Speaker Biography

Rebecca Madgin is Professor of Urban Studies at the University of Glasgow and Director for the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s ‘Place-Based Research Programme’, a long-term strategic investment to deliver people-centred, place-based approaches. Her work focuses on the relationship between emotional and economic value in a place-based context. Her latest book Why Historic Places Matter Emotionally has just been published by Cambridge University Press. Rebecca also sits on the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s College of Experts, Historic England’s Historic Places Panel, and the Advisory Group for the Key Cities Innovation Network.
